Red Dot scopes mounted on Mausers?? Experiences??

Has anyone had any luck mounting a RED Dot scope on a Mauser?

I was looking at mounting one on a Swedish Mauser... I don't want to drill and tap the receiver as I want to keep the straight bolt and the rifle in as original condition as possible...

It is a 1920 manufactured Swedish sniper rifle....

I wanted to mount the RED DOT scope over the slide sight location ( removing the slide, when it held in by a screw on mine, and mine is a round dial not the regular Mauser slide sights)...

I have seen M 14s with Red Dots mounted on them this way.....

Anyone done it,?? Would appreciate your feedback on mounting it..

thanks

Don,

That would work nicely... I saw something like that once before, but I believe it was a B Square Mount for a pistol or scout scope...

I was looking for a weaver style base, so that I could mount a RED Dot.. but then... someone just suggested of screwing a mount for a Marlin 336 or 10/22 into the wood on the stock... once I remove the Mauser site......

I have one of B-square's (Now discontinued)
No gunsmithing mounts on my M38 Swede
(Different mount than required for your M96)
this now discontinued mount for the M38 swede rifle will not fit the M96 CG sight base, but it does replace the sight leaf.

I'm not a real fan of the way B-squares current M96 mount works...

It DOES NOT replace the sight leaf, but instead clamps to the leaf itself by two screws (4-40?) that clamp through the M96 sight leaf to a small
postage stamp sized sheet metal "nut plate"

What you really want is the mount made by S&K Scope mounts, in particular their "Carl Gustafs Mauser Scout" mount

http://www.scopemounts.com/

the specific model number is CG65

CARL GUSTAF MAUSER SCOUT (S&K Style) $74.00

the S&K mount is steel

The B-square mounts were about $50 and made of aluminum, but do come with (utterly crap)
weaver-style rings.

Hope this helps,

AllanD
