I had a friend give a couple of his last 170 grain Cast bullets from Penn Bullets, with a 323 bore diameter.... These bullets sell for like $55.00 per thousand... I wanted them to try and see how they would perform with Trail Boss powder ( normally used in Cowboy Action shooting).... Well I was surprised on how accurate both the powder and bullet were..... I used a charge of 16 grains of Trail Boss which filled up about 90% of the case.. it looks like the color and consistency of oatmeal... real bulky powder... Not only was the load accuracy in one of my 8mm Mausers, the recoil can be best described by Seafire Jr after he shot the load.... " That's It????" I used large pistol primers on this load... I recommend trying the load out.. It was a lot of fun.. MV is expected to be in the 1200 fps range.. but plenty for 75 to 100 yd plinking... cheers seafire Life Member: The American Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Jan 20, 2009.. Seafire2; thanks for posting this, I found a 9 oz can of TrailBoss under the Christmas tree, had to open it for a look- "cheerios" or doughnuts, one of my teenagers said it must be what the cops use. I cast my own 175/205/250 gr for the 8mm will try some plinker loads when I get a chance.

I have an unissued Yugo Mauser Model 48B. I use the Lee 175 gr over top 29.5 grs of surplus 844 and with the receiver sights I put on it, I get exceptional scoped rifle groups from it. It's a very pleasant rifle and caliber to achieve gratifying results.

Yes that Lee 175 grain 8mm mold is a good one, very accurate in a couple rifles I have, and the 250 grainer designed by Oldfeller is a shooter too with 35 grains of 846 and some dacron, a real thumper.
