Will it fit a Savage Enfield stamped US Property?

The stock on one I have has been "bubbaized"

All "Enfield" stocks for the No4 will fit any Enfield No4.

Except!

You have to be aware that there was the No4 Mk1 (with the trigger hung from the trigger guard group) and the No4 Mk2 with the trigger hung - like a Mauser - from the bottom of the receiver.

These won't interchange.

Thanks

Mine is a No4Mk1*

The * means that it was modified for an easier bolt removal.

Not strictly correct. It was modified so as to use three less parts. A side feature was that, in theory, the bolt was easier to remove.

Except it didn't always mean so. I find that as there is a positive stop bolt removal on the No4 Mk1 is actually quicker. There is no trying to line up the bolt head with the cut-out in the rail.

I used to have charge of an armoury with one hundred plus of these No4 rifles and take it from me bolt removal on the Mk1 was quicker!
