Turkish 8mm The Cracker Jacks of milsurp ammo. There could be a surprise inside. Could I interest you guys in some Corona Arsenal 7.62x51 Mausers? Probably won't ever have a problem. Put 3000 rounds of high energy .308 thru mine, no problem. NOT Life's too short to shoot suspect ammo. Covey16

Quote: Windex < !--color--> will work very well too. PS: For what its worth - I pulled some bullets from "hot" Turkish ammo. The bullets weighted 154 grains and had a concave base.

I just chonographed some Turkish 1935 ammo in my short barreled Yugo M-48. Mean muzzle velocity 2,884 fps. SD 16 fps (a very respectable .05% of mean velocity). No misfires. No cracked necks in my Yugo M-48! Where can I get MORE?!!! This stuff still 'kicks ass' at 71 years old!

Yep, most of the milsurp Turk ammo is indeed a bit on the warm side! J and G Sales in AZ had a pretty good supply a while back and the pricing was such that I stocked up pretty good.

Clean corrosive ammo with DILUTE household ammonia. About 1 part ammonia and 2 parts water will work. Ammonia removes blue finish! Dilute and watch out where it goes. After shooting, run a swab w/ ammonia down the bore. Swab the chamber. Remove the bolt and wipe down the face, outer surface. Wipe down the crown. Then put the gun in the truck and drive home. Corrosion in the Mauser is not a crucial worry because the bolt action keeps all the "crap" in the bore -- as compared to a semi-auto, gas operated action. Still -- The gun needs to be taken apart and cleaned. Swabbed down with a decent solvent that removes corrosive primer salts. Ammonia works, but it needs to be diluted. I'd keep it off the outer, blue surfaces.

My 1950 turk ammo clocked 3000 + fps. bolt lift was a bit sticky so i'll be down loading them a couple of grains. It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack; not rationality.
