Rojelio...In order to see if your order is processing...you need to get an estore account. It's free..Just go to the CMP site, click on estore and email them the requested information. Check on it in a coulple of days. You will need to punch in your email address and password. You will get a password from them, and you can change it to make it easier to log on. I tried to log on after a few days, and didn't have a password right away...type in your email address, and click on "forgot your password", and they will send a passwork instanlly. (I checked my pending order this morning, and it was posted. I checked a few hours later, and it was shipped the same day it was posted!! will have the SA M1 in the morning!! I don't think I will sleep tonight!!!!!

How long does it normally take from the time you send in your order to the time your order is processed? Roger.

anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks depending on what you ordered, the demand for that item, and the time of year.

Well guys, I did get my M1 SA Garand from the CMP on December 10, 2003. I was very happy with the results. I did get a good one! Here's what I got: SA-November, 1944, all original except "NM" operating rod. Wood was a little beat up, but I refinished it,( no proff marks except "195" stamped under the hand guard?) and it looks a lot better. Muzzle shows about 3/16" bullet, can't check throat, don't have a gauge. Shot 5 clips, and it zeroed in with just a few shots. Can't get out to shoot it again until it stops snowing!!!!!

Congrats Reload, I have had my M-1 for 6 years now, really enjoy it. Is a late model H&R that shoots very food groups. Again, enjoy your weapon, its a good one.

Good luck and good shooting,
Eterry

THANKS ETERRY!! I have been out with the M1 three times now, and can't explain why I haven't got one of these earlier! Do you reload? I have been working up some loads for my M1, and so far the VARGET powder works the best. (works great with the BLACK rifle too!) I have been able to shoot 8 rounds in a 2" target at 100 yards, but want to do better. Am I expecting more than I should? The rear site wobbles a bit, so I am going to try the rubber band method........does it work, or should I try something else? Dan

If that's with surplus ball, that's great shooting. If it's with handloads, that's still pretty good. Most of them make about 4" 5 shot groups at 100 yds with ball ammo.
Sounds like you may need a new spring cover for the sight.

I shimed the aperture with a .012" printing plate. I cut 1/8" strips and put them under the base channel the aperture rides in, then left 1/2" to fold under the base. It really tighened up the sight. Just want to get the most out of the ole rifle I can. As soon as it stops snowing and blowing, I'll give it another try.......Thanks for all the replies!!

pa frank;

u are a lucky son of a gun.

i would give my left nut for a c.m.p. m1d. always wanted one especially if it was in pristine shape. i took the required course but never ordered a gun becuase they told me all the m1c and d's were long gone, and this was at least 5 yrs ago.

how much did u pay and how does it shoot at distance? i am sitting down. sounds like u have the gun i wanted from them.

can u put me in your will?

cold zero

Cold zero:

I don't know quite how to tell you this.... but it's gone.. I sold it about 3 years ago. I got it from the CMP in 96 or 97 and paid $1025 for it, delivered. I only ever shot it at 100 yards, but it gave me 2" groups consistently with ball ammo. From what I understand, it was a trickey gun to shoot at various distances because of the offset scope.

The reason I sold it was because I'm a lefty and the ony way I could comfortably shoot it was from the bench.

I might consider putting you in my will for my 03A4 if you do all my reloading for me for the next 10 years though..
