Yo ! Although I have wanted a Luger since forever .. the urge wasn't really pressing enough to actually go searching for one .. I was at the local gunshop the other day and found a fine old Luger that is dated 1916. Looks like all the parts have the same serial number except for the clip .. It used to drive me nuts years ago when folks were buying all the commemorative rifles and leaving them inside the boxes so as not to lose value .. All I could think of was ... these guns have no history ... Why buy a freakin' heavy box ??? Grrrrrrrrr !!! Confused Now this pistol could easily have been in a couple of world wars . mgun. And being that the barrel on that particular model is short enough to make it to 'prohibited' status here in Canada .. And not that many folks have the grandfathered permit to buy them .. well, for a fine old gun in about 50% condition .. I had to pay the bandit $150 Canadian .. Smiler

The collector's books on the Luger are generally about as thick as a NYC phone book. There are heaps of variations and arcana in Lugers.

I purchased a 1900 American Eagle, and got burned really, really bady. I was enamored with owning a rare, antique Luger, and got screwed. It'd been refinished and was in a much lower collectable condition than I assumed.

I lost about $500 on the transaction.

If I were to get another Luger, it'd be the P-08 Finn, "put togethers" --mis-matched and recycled. I think I have this right, Finn.

9mm, utilitarian Luger. Seems like AIM had some in stock, or Empire Arms --

Scruffy, a luger has been my dream for a long time too. I almost had one last year from a very old gent, until I realized it was prohibited. He wouldn't bring it to a gunsmith to have it fixed up with a barrel extension...oh well. Have you shot it yet?/ I'd love to know how it performs.
