Hello i saw some of these for sale in mint condition and wondered if any one can let me know their opinion of them ? Were they just built, out of left over parts ? i like old classic mausers ,and these have a straight bolt handle and no cut out which i like ,do they have slightly shorter action like model 48 ? thanks for any advice on these Cheers

TH,

I have one as my "shooter" Mauser. They're fine and probably the best deal going on Mausers these days.

FN made some of these with the Yugos making the rest themselves. They were rearsenaled and restamped with the communist crest after WW2. The are an intermediate action similar to the model 48. The also have an extractor cut in the barrel breech, for the extractor of course. that's their main difference from the 48 and the longer 98.

Get one, you won't be dissapointed.

Regards,

Dan

Tank: I bought a rearsenaled 24/47 a few weeks back from Big 5 out here on the West Coast for $99. Bore appears unfired, and the action is one of the smoother 98s. Haven't shot it yet as I still have some cosmolene inside the bolt, but my sense is that it is a very well made Mauser.

I have two of them myself, and would not hesitate to get more. All of the ones I've seen with a few exceptions have had bores in new or nearly new condition. Even the ones with junky beat up wood and no blue on the metal parts often have fine bores. They are sturdy, the action is strong, the steel is high quality, very little rust after 60 years. I love mine. So by all means, get one. You can interchange all parts with the M48 by the way.
