To my untrained eye, this appears to be an 1909 Argintinian Mauser.

Does there appear to be any modifications to it? (bent bolt handle, lack of mauser emblem on top side of receiver, no blueing on receiver)

If its been modified, then I will probably see if I can sell it for parts. If it hasent been modified, then I would like to find a stock for it.

thanks for any help

Brent, that's what it says it is ..... and that means it's a desirable large ring standard 98 style action! tu2

okay, thanks guys! The fact that it is missing the eblem from the receiver like the ones in the pictures form the link have makes me think that someone started to modify this gun. I think I will try and get some money for the action versus trying to find a stock for it and keep it origanal.

Most/many 1909 Argentines imported to the US had the crest ground off. It is not unusual. Look around on gunbroker.com to see the current value. If you are going to make a custom mauser, this is the #1 action to use.

Ahh, so thats why. It seemed strange that it was missing. Any idea as to why they did that?

Still have to decide whether I want to turn it into a complete, or sell it...

Thanks for the replys!

There's nothing wrong with what you have. With that said if you're wanting a complete military configuration rifle you'd be better off selling what you have because getting the stock and other hardware you need may be hard. I just looked on Numrich parts and they don't have stocks. Sell it and look on Gunbroker or Auction Arms for one.

The bent bolt handle is an alteration. It is supposed to be straight.

Appears to have a carbine bolt. See if the bolt number matches the receiver and you'll probably find out it doesn't.
