"Ass-ault Weapons Ban" (sic) has come and gone. I have an SAR-1 -- variant of the AK-47 that passes the AWB criteria. No bayo lug, no folding stock. I had a Bushmaster and a Colt AR-15, during the AWB. No bayo lug, no folding stock. I wonder if these guns will become "collectable" as examples of the failure of "gun control" legislation. I also have an Uzi, Mod. 45 Carbine -- folding stock, bayo lug -- "grandfathered" into the USA during the AWB. Also, a receipt for this gun prior to the AWB lapse. These Uzi's are still banned from US import. (I also have a Mod. 45 pistol, banned from import.) But I wonder if the AWB, variants will become collectable guns? You know? Like bottles of whiskey smuggled from Canada during Prohibition?

I doubt the "post ban" guns will ever be worth as much as a standard, or "pre ban", gun. Although the national Clinton AWB has sunsetted, some states still have their own version of the ban, so they are sill being produced. Furthermore, given the fact that the ban outlawed just a few cosmetic parts and had nothing to do with the overall function or any major parts, making a copy-cat rifle would be very easy and inexpensive. The ban guns also had no distinct markings. The rifles produced under the Clinton AWB were required to have serial #'s that could be tracked to the date of manufacture, so I guess there is a chance that in, like, 20 years they may be worth something. However, I think the likely scenereo would be more like: Dems get back in office and re-enact the AWB (in the name of national security) and this time it's for good. Having said that, I did gobble up some LEO magazines right after the sunset and plan to hold on to them. For my money, I'd buy up a few AR's and AK's (if you like that sort of thing) while you can, and sell the "ban" guns, but I have been wrong before. ------------------------------------ Originally posted by BART185 I've had another member on this board post an aireal photograph of my neighborhood, post my wifes name, dig up old ads on GunsAmerica, call me out on everything that I posted. Better hold onto them, if MS. clinton gts elected in 2008 we will be back to those type guns-- if we can keep any at all!

Nah, they'll hold about as much value as post 64 push-feed Winchester M70's or late 70's "muscle" cars. If you can get a decent price for them I would let'm go and stock up for the next AWB. Chances are if another AWB goes through there won't be a sunset provision next time. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
