I looking for some good books that describe the history, manufacturers, and manufacturer markings of military rifles, particularly the garand, m14/m1a, m16 and its varients, and also the FN FAL.

You don't say where you are located, so... try www.abebooks.com Search each one seperately and see what you get...just a starting point.
Also try the NRA bookstore.
