Ordered 4 cans of ammo from CMP. Expecting HXP, but got cans of WRA 56 and LC 57 instead... That was a shocker - I didn't think this stuff was around anymore.

Has anyone had experience in shooting M2 ball (30-06) from the 50's? The cases actually look okay, no rust on the en-bloc clips either.

Shouldn't be a problem, unless it is corrosive.

Thanks for the information. Looks like all of mine is non-corrosive.

Lake City must have been having quality control issues around '57, as this is some of crappiest ammo I have ever seen. Loose bullets, powder spilling out, bent cases, crimped bullet tips, bent case necks, etc. About 20% of the cartridges I consider to be un-shootable.

The WRA '56 stuff looks in new condition!

You might want to contact CMP customer service about the LC problems. 20% is a high number and they will likely be willing to do something about it for you Pics of the problem ammo would help.
The issues could be related to long term storage as well.

I have not had much luck with Lake City ball ammo. I have found it to be inaccurate in the years I have shot ('67,'69, and '72), more so than the Greek surplus ammo I have shot. Never had a misfire though. Happy shooting!

I sent them a well worded but polite email today. We'll see where that gets me.

The LC stuff I got mis-fired maybe one in 30 rds. A second strike set it off. It was pretty inaccurate, inconsistent load weights and bullet weights. I pulled some bullets and weighed the charges -- because I was getting 3" groups at 100 yds off the bench w/ a Win. Mod. 70 and a Leupold scope.
