Is there anything out there that will work without drilling and tapping? Thanks. Jerry

Usually you will find that mounts which dont require drilling and tapping require that you hack the wood away.
Either way, you will need to cut and re-weld the bolt handle.

If it is an absolute mint gun, please don't touch it.

I might look for a barreled action lying around or one for cheap that has already been sporterized.

I have a peep sight by Mojo http://www.mojosights.com/
which I haven't got around to fitting yet but it looks well made. Doesn't appear to require technical skill, drill or hammer!

(I'm actually on the lookout for a tall foresight blade for my M96 Carl Gustav 1912 model.)

I have one of these, and like it a lot:

It does require a long eye relief scope, but has woked well for me.

SLW,

For another look at a "Scout" type mount:

InstaMount

That's for the Gustafs. They also have one for the Husqvarna.

I had the scout mount from BSquare and it was a fine mount. I really could not warm up to the look of it on my beautiful Swede so I sold it. I have installed a Williams peep sight (Check out Brownell's catalog) and shoot as well or better with that and it doesn't look bad at all and requires no permanent changes to the rifle. I shot a buck off hand while standing w/sling around my arm at approx.130 yds last year and I wear bifocals. At the bench I can regularily equal/beat scoped rifles most of the time. Their aperatures come in different sizes. I use the .150 FWIW Good Luck

If anyone has what you're looking for it may well be Williams Gunsight Co. They carry a huge range of gunsights for the military rifles. Best wishes.
