Congratulations! thumb

I would recommend you order some GP-11 surplus ammo, some chargers and a sling (if you didn't get one with your K-31).

Be sure to check this site: swissrifles.com

It's got loads of good info. Manufacturing dates, service manuals, etc.

milrif, you can get dies from Redding, Lee, Hornady, RCBS and others. Check out Graf and Sons offerings Graf 7.5 x 55 ..... then compare prices.

The GP11 military surplus stuff is Berdan primed, but it's very accurate and fairly inexpensive.

Prvi ammo is probably the most inexpensive source for reloadable (boxer primed) cases. I've heard that brass quality is a bit soft.... but OK.

I finally recieved my K-31 with a walnut stock, and it is a beautiful rifle. It seems that it was relatively unused, there are no signs of wear on the reciever or the mag, and the crown is in perfect condition. We got all the copper deposite out and the barrel and the rifling is basically flawless. Does anyone know how you date these rifles?

Here is milrif's K31. Thought I would post a pic of it for him since he is so proud of it and I have to hear him playing with it all the time in his bedroom.

How does that glass line up with your line of vision with that off-set scope. Obviously you shot a good group with it, I was just wondering if it was akward to use, or just took a little getting used to.

It takes a little getting used to, like canting the head to the right (the straight/low comb helps). After a few shots, you won't notice anymore.

Actually, I'm new to this game. In the past, I've fired about every milsurp rifle available and had since ruled them too inaccurate to be of interest. Very recently, I bought this K31 as a wallhanger because it was cheap. Out of sheer curiosity, I fired a few factory rounds over iron sights and was amazed by the apparent accuracy potential. And then, it began : dies, cases, mount, scope,...

You won't really appreciate the K31 until you compare it to other military rifles at long range.

Shoot a K31 (iron sight) against other standard issue military rifles and issued ammo at 300 plus yds. ....... you'll see what I mean!

I finally got the chance to go and shoot my k31 for the first time. I expected to have to fine tune it or make some adjustments, well that was not the case. We put a metal gong up at roughly 100 yds and drilled it almost every time, any missed shot were definatly operator error. Needless to say, I am very pleased, and I forsee my other rifles getting very dusty.
