Hi guys. I live in South Africa and iam very keen on going on a polar bear hunt.Ive done quiet a bit of research and have found quiet a differece in prices ranging from $15000 to $ 30000 and everyone claims to have one of the best areas. If anyone can sugest a reputable outfitter that can really give you a great fair chase hunt.Hunting on dog sled in the cold must really be challenging and something i really would like to experanse

Nthanial Kalluck of Resolute Bay is one of the best. Lancaster Sound population has a lot of bears. Hunted there in 08. PM me and I will provide you contact info.

Adventure Northwest

Fred Webb

Jerome Knapp

The 3 I can think of to check out. Farther from where Inuit regularily hunt the better, all things being equal. They just shoot them off snowmobiles.

I would try Ryan St.John at Henik Lake Adventures.

I have hunted caribou with him twice and i know his Polar Bear hunts are top notch. Nice guy.
Probably booked a couple/few years out though.
Not sure about the laws over there (S.A.) but his bears were also in one of the only areas where they could be importable to the U.S.(not sure now with the recent ruling)

Fred Webb and Adventure Northwest are the two premier ones. Go with someone else and risk a shitty hunt.

As this is my first post, I suppose it is normal to see this advice as worth exactly what you paid for it....but, I think you are in an interesting spot as a South African and these are very interesting times to be hunting polar bear! In the past, I don't think the high priced polar bear hunts were necessarily those that were also the "best" areas. The high priced hunts were those that were legally importable to the U.S. as I understand it. Now that apparently no polar bears are importable to the US, this may have changed. I doubt seriously that prices have adjusted all that much in these areas in such a short period of time. If it were me, I would frankly look at last years price lists from any and all outfitters and then start looking for the best outfits and areas that were offering bears NOT importable to the U.S. I say this because you would have been out of your mind two years ago to pay a ridiculous premium just to hunt an area offering bears that were importable to a place where you don't live.

Hope this helps.
