Ok all you Canadians, who got drawn for what?? What's the likely hood of actually filling your tag??

I have been drawn for Elk. Archery Elk that is!! This will be a hunt in every sense of the word. I'm fully expecting to walk my ass off just to get a chance at an elk, but the up close and personal aspect of calling is what I cherish the most. Of all the animals in the world that "call", elk would rank top 2 in by books. Got a 50/50 chance I figure seeing as I'm going to get some within range but will I still have a shot opportunity??

How about you?

I did not get drawn for anything I put in for..
Caribou, elk, deer.
Can still hunt for Caribou but sure would have liked either one of the others.. Maybe next year.
Will go for Caribou July 31 to be in the mountains on August first. I was told today where a friend saw quite a herd of Caribou, only yesterday, about 70 miles form our house. Then there is still moose..

No elk tag for me in Manitoba. No whitetail deer tag in Saskatchewan. I did get a deer tag in Montana and the elk B tag draw is still pending.

I have not even looked at the website. I usually just wait for the notice in the mail; like waitibg for Christmas morning! I only applied for goat. If I don't get drawn, my hunting buddy did so I have goos reason to go up and camp anyway. The odds are excellent if one puts in the work. I can hunt everything else on a general license. Regards, Bill.

Well I got zip at home or elsewhere in the draws. No big deal, will go north for moose and hunt at home for deer.

Got two great record book animals this spring so if I don't get another animal........ well except for some nice plump mallards and a whitetail for sausage making......... it has been a banner year!!!!!

No complaints.

I got nothing, my son got either sex moose. That's the only way we can hunt the moose on my own farms. All is not lost though, there is whitetail, moose, elk, and black bear on open seasons but that still leaves the mule deer and antelope that I feed and can't hunt. Going to British Columbia in 6 weeks for coastal brown bear, that will take some of the sting out of it.

The likelihood of filling ours tags is about 100%, except for elk which is always an iffy one.

We didn't get anything this year. Quite surprised actually. I was 100% sure one of my boys would get a moose tag. Oh well, there's always next year!

When did Alberta get an Archery sheep tag. I thought it was only Antelope that had an archery only season, or are you bowhunting by choice?

There are two archery-only draw seasons in Alberta for bighorns. The one I drew has been around 15 years and the other longer than that.

Thanks! It's been a long wait to get it so I want to make the most of the hunt. I'll put the time and effort in. Hopefully the sheep do their part!

tu2 Looking forward to the pictures. You have the background and intestinal fortitude to make it count. I know you will be out there scoping things out and make your time count.

I got both my Antlered Mule deer and Antlered Moose for my area, which means that the mule deer who eats in my wife's garden and the moose who eats our apple trees every fall, in the yard are going to be filling our freezer this fall dancing

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

because to build points i need to choose more than one area. i returned my tag and was counted as not tag. next year will be better certainly. your favorite area has been hitten hard by more than 15 sheeps taken wont last for a decade for sure. we will see some cut here to be sure GO can still operate ...

That makes more sense. Strange draws here in MB too. Once you have applied they keep putting you in without your paying the fee every year an putting in the draw. Considering all the snivelling they do about no money, you would think they would only count an application with a fee each year??!!

Is it a special licence or draw. Meaning do you use a general tag and are allowed to bowhunt in a certain zone and/or use your tag in all other zones, or this is the only zone you can use your tag in?

It's a draw for November in one WMU, same as the other archery draw. A draw tag and a special licence are same thing here. You can't use any draw tag with a general licence. Most years only 6 permits are given out in the draw I got

Good luck gentleman!!
