| Over the years I've referred countless hunters to Stan Stevens (250-786-5118) and never had a complaint from any. Stan's been outfitting in the MacKenzies longer than any other outfitter. ~Arctic~

| There are lots of reputable outfitters in NWT. What is most important for narrowing down the list is what type of experience you want. Some offer horse hunts, some offer backpack hunts and some offer both. What are you looking for? Cheers, Canuck

| I hunted with Stan Stevens this past July and had a great experience. Strictly a backpack hunt. |

| Peakbrooke- Great looking ram! How would you rate the difficulty of this hunt? |

| This was my first sheep hunt, so I don't have a lot to compare to. I do know Stan tries to evaluate every hunter as to their physical abilities. Some areas have more rugged terrain then others. There was one gent who was 70 years old, but in excellent shape, that had a great hunt.
I will say I worked out on a treadmill and elliptical with a backpack on for 6 months to get my butt in shape. Stan knew this and selected a more challenging area. My guide, who has guided for Stan for 12 years, had never been to the area we hunted. He said it was the most difficult first hunt he had been on. The first day was straight up a mountain where we set up base camp overlooking several valleys. By the end of the climb, I was crampng up pretty well. The one positive note, so was the guide.
But I wanted that type of challenge. The scenery was just fantastic. I will say, that coming down the mountain with the added weight of the sheep was even more difficult than going up. I could barely walk for two days.
I am going back in 2007. Same guide, same exact location. The second ram of the band was real nice. Should be a smoker by then. I will combine it with caribou or moose as well.
If you want more pictures posted or e-mailed I will. See the Dall Sheep post on page 5 of the Canadian Hunting forum. |

| I hunted with Stan in 2004. I second everything Peakebrook said. Stan and Helen have a wonderful operation. The hunt will be everything you had hoped for. They will fly you in to some remote area and drop you off with your guide, dog and pack. You'll hunt harder than you ever have, and feel about as close to God as you can imagine. I was 57. It would help to be 27, but it let me know I still had a few good years left in me. The sheep are there. The guides know what they are doing. We had to hunt hard. I got my ram on day six. I remember the largest ram was shot after a 100 yard hike by a hunter that had the physical capability to hike about 110 yards. Sometimes things just fall in your lap.
Get your legs and lungs in shape. Some of the climbs are brutal. |

| Hunted with Stan Stevens from July 24 to August 6 2005. I was the last one in camp to get a ram on day 8. The ram was the best I saw at 35" curl scoring around 145 B&C. The hunt was great in some real awesome country. I was the only Canadian hunter in camp with the Americans all shooting rams within the first 3 days. There was alot of hiking involved and my guide did not have a pack dog. Food and lodging were great as well as some fun fishing at base camp. On of the American hunters was there with his son on his 3rd hunt with Stan. I would highly recommend hunting with Stan as I know I would love to do it again. |

| A hunter this summer took the new NWT record (178+) while hunting with Stan. I heard it was going to be right around 50th on the B&C list. He is receiving an award at this years FNAWS convention. There are some big Dall in the NWT.
My ram measured 39 5/8 and 35. |
