I joined the Buffalo Target Shooters Assoc and use Steve Johnson range as I like to shoot handguns and it is close to home. I was under the impression that as a member of the Alberta Provincial Rifle Assoc (APRA), which is inlcuded in my membership, I would be able to use the APRA facilities north of the city. I was told that is not the case. Where can I shoot my rifles in a private range?

There is a range in Olds (operated by a club), a public range in Sibbald (for people with a lot of patience (can be busy, and can be populated with, how shall I say this politely, idiots, from time to time), and there are a few club ranges in Sibbald as well. Rosebud is a name that springs to mind, you should be able to Google them. I've actually only used the public range at Sibbald, but try to get there on a weekday, or VERY early on the weekends. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but you might try The Calgary & District Target Shooters Association facility at Sheppard. http://www.cdtsa.org/
