Just thought I'd post that, contrary to much discussion on the net, we crossed over to Ontario (IFalls to Fr. Francis) to go moose hunting with muzzleloaders (percussion), and having all the form filled out in advance, it took us only 30 minutes and about $36 American to get through Canadian Customs. Lots of friendly folks ushered us through even though our guns were a bit "irregular" being homemade and w/o markings.

Coming home was even easier. We had no moose, no trinkets, no food, no anything but happy memories. The guy waved us through, just like they did two years ago 40 days post 9/11.

A smile will get you a long ways with the borders in either direction.

Glad your experience with the border crossings was a pleasant one. It usually is, but I have heard some horror stories. Even coming back from the states with reloading components like gun powder and bullets I'm apprehensive. I've never had any cause to worry yet, but I know of some who have. Best wishes.

I've had many more hassles coming back to the USA than entering into Canada. But both times, moosing at the Ifalls/Ft. Francis border has been totally easy and painless. Smile, have passports or whatever ready(Not check however), and the Canadian Paper work ready. May your rifles easy to pull out of your truck, and don't get mad if they ask you twice or even three times if you are trying to bring in handguns, mace or potatos. Just keep smilin' and say nope.

I am heading out in the morning (Thursday), heading for the Coutts crossing in Alberta -- then onward to Saskatchewan for the wily whitetail deer north of Prince Albert.
