Another Calgary boy here! haven't done much hunting in the past few years besides gophers due to university commitments but before that, mostly mulies and elk. Next season I hope to get back out to the hills and add sheep to that list as well ryan | ||

Mikey- 10-4 on the choice of gun- I was charged by a sow on the west bank of the Whitemouth R. about 2 miles south of the fire tower in Sept '02. All I had was a .22- the noise was enough to stop her charge, fortunately. I thought I might have had to shoot her with the .22- she didn't stop until she was 5 ft. away. Looks like we may be in for a heavy winter whitetail die off with all the snow and freezing rain we've had to date. There may be a change in the regulations if that is the case. DNR usually makes this announcement in early May. No change in the 12 day season- this years guide has the last 2 weeks of Nov '04 pegged for season. The grouse in Sandilands faced a lot hunter pressure this year- they were all bunched up in flocks way back in the bush, far from the roads. I have not seen any rabbits at all this year.
