Here in Ohio the deer started breeding on sunday evening, while driving home from the sportsman club north of columbus in a rural area-- I had 4 bucks cross the road trailing does in a 1/2 hour period (right at dark). The were all 12 points or better, all 140+ scores. Monday afternoon there was a buck breeding a doe in the back yard. They stayed there together for 3 hours.
I am off to Kentucky on friday-- gun season opens saturday.
We still have another month in Ohio before firearms season opens.

nothing last Saturday, my taxidermist hadn't seen any real activities last week and he has been hunting hard. No info on the last few days, I'm sorry.

I hope things will be stirring Saturday though, but prediction is for warmer weather last I looked

the bucks around the Edmonton area are starting to chase the does. Nobody that I have talked to has seen any breeding yet. But the bigger bucks are starting to wander at all times of the day.

Buddy of mine just shot a 140-150 class buck yesterday at around 1330 hrs. the buck was just out sniffing along a trail.

My neighbor has started seeing the 2 big boys (160+) coming into the fields towards evening checking out the does.

And my mule deer herd that lives on my place, the bucks are just starting to think about the rut. They have finally started wandering yesterday. The 7 bucks are no longer in there "boys club".

That is what is happening in my area.

Omega,

Nice buck indeed! I like that great mass in the rack.

Did this one come out of the Peace River District?

Good one! Very close, or as they say close enough for government work. Here is another angle, as you can see no broken tines and great length and mass.
