Comet, I didn't want to hijack the Rev's post regarding Canadian caribou,so I thought I'd give you a holler. How about some details? Outfitter, cost, etc? I've been planning to go for the past few years, then started to hear of sucess rates really falling due to migration changes.Thought I'd better hold off until things evened out some.Or maybe it's just BS,but actually had a friend who was planning on going this year, and the outfitter cancelled the hunts due to the above reasons. Thanks,Dave

If you're in Maryland, I'd suggest looking at northern Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland. All are reasonably reachable and all have areas with high to very high success rates. I suspect that Newfoundland (the island) would be cheapest by a fair margin. This is mainly because the business is not as established here yet and pressure isn't high enough to allow price hikes, not that the herds are unavailable by any means.

Sorry been out of town fishing in Costa Rica. I drove up to northern Quebec from Baltimore and it took about 30+ hours last Nov. We stayed at Nouchimi and it costs about $1000US for four nights. There are three or four other outfitters up there. Mirage is the nicest and is more money. The Tags are $295.oo Canadian (you get two Bous). You have to pay Canada customs ~ 40 to bring fierarms into Canada. We each limited out on our second day and all were trophy Bulls. Could have tagged out on Day 1 though. There are tons of bous in the Quebec herd. But they are migrating, so timing is everything. We nailed them this year. Guys who went up in December were skunked though.
