The average Eastern Canadian will think .. now that is a good idea ! Sue Colt or Smith and Wesson or somebody like that. And they will re elect the Liberals and the gangs will continue to flourish and the average Canadian duck hunter will get a bit older and lonelier out in the marshes. Frowner

Wednesday, October 26, 2005 President Bush signed S.397, “The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.†The City of New Orleans filed the first municipal lawsuit against the American firearms industry almost exactly seven years ago, and over thirty cities and counties subsequently instituted similar litigation. Congress has finally responded to this dangerous misuse of our legal system, which was intended to bankrupt an important asset to law enforcement, our national defense, and law abiding citizens. The U.S. Senate passed the bill in July by a 65-31 vote. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill on October 20th on a bi-partisan vote of 283-144.

The law of the land now prohibits filing, and would require dismissal of, lawsuits against manufacturers of non-defective, lawfully sold firearms based upon their subsequent criminal acquisition and misuse.

Appears they need to read some US law. They are late I think.

Invader. I think the plan was to sue in Canadian court. The after getting a favorable judgement siezing assets of the defendant. This is a takeoff of American 'justice' where a non resident alien is brought up on trumped up charges, doesn't show for trial, and has any US assets siezed. Our gov't is a knee jerk org. for sure. No doubt they have seen this work in the US and thought to give it a try.Mark

The high crime rate due to guns in Toronto is the fault of the US. Everything is the fault of the US. You don't really expect them to be able to take blame for their own actions, do you? I mean hey, it's not Toronto the good for nothing.
What a bunch of twits. Best wishes.

If I get radiation poisoning from something like a microwave or my cell phone I am going to sue the descendants of the people who discovered radiation.

Is the Canadian government drunk on this one?

Why don't we just annex Canada? bewildered

Think about it, they have tons of habitat-- ESA would no longer be an issue; they have a fair amount of oil (we can forget about the ANWR controversy);driving to Alaska would no longer be a pain in the ass and just think what better way to stick it to the French than to move Camp David smack dab into the middle of Quebec? sofa
