To All Canadians, Please review the post in the African Hunting Forum referring to the NRA's announced Pro-Hunting Campaign. I encourage all of you to not only support the NRA, but also petition our Canadian NFA and local clubs to do the same. This is the heavy weight in the fight that we need against the anti's!!! The NRA will never back down or give up once they start. They have the money and know-how to lead the battle!

Bryce........... you will undoubtedly hear from some that the NRA is American and has nothing to do with us. There is much truth to that, in fact the NRA is often used as a club by the anti's....... they point to it and say we do not want that in Canada. I, on the other hand, believe there is always positive spin off in our direction. If nothing else, the outfitting industry in Canada depends heavily on US hunters as they make up the lions share of the guests. Generally I share your views, but I must say that at this point in time, I am not too sure that the NFA can take something like this on as they are embroiled in another internal meltdown. The CSSA could be approached I imagine, as could the new CCFR. Having said that, I will not be surprised if these organizations decline. As is the problem everywhere, the percentage of firearms owners that belong to one of the orgs is pitiful, and they are constantly underfunded for the tasks at hand. Given Baby Trudeau's rise to power and the anti-gun Liberal majority gov't.......... who undoubtedly will be backed by the NDP degenerates when it comes to more firearms restrictions....... the gun orgs are undoubtedly going to be reluctant to take on anything else. Those of us with handguns and semi-auto anything are probably going to be experiencing a rise in blood pressure in the next few years. What we need is a strong federal hunting organization and we do not have one. Hell we do not have a strong firearms organization in the great scheme of things. I would hazard a guess that SCI Canada is currently the one hunting organization that actually talks to federal politicians on a semi-regular basis. We all know how few Canadians are inclined to belong to SCI, it takes arm twisting every year just to get them to join their provincial fish and game associations. Why don't you contact the CSSA, NFA and CCFR and see what they have to say about it? The responses you get would quickly let us know if you are barking up a dead tree. ______________________________________________ The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who are bereft of that gift.

I did send this to NFA....I will look into the others... I would like to think that even direct member support from Canadians with the NRA could do a lot for Canadians that want to see hunting continue. I realize they are Americans First, but we are after all still doing a lot of what our big brother does....And the anti-hunting campaign is a global effort. IN other words, it doesn't matter who slays the dragon, just that its dead is good enough....

Good post Kelly, the NRA being involved would in my opinion be more of a hinderence than a help in Canada, simply because of preconceptions about them in Canadian political circles. Linking "hunting in Canada" and "the NRA" paints a picture in the heads of those we need to positively influence that you might not anticipate. Would be nice to see hunters in Canada band together and form an organization of their own, not linked expressly to gun politics.

Bryce: The only way the NRA has any money is from US members donations. I personally try hard to send them $50 a month and that's from a meager SS retirement check of just over a grand a month. Wish you folks up there had a good org like the NRA. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight
