I hunted near Steinbeck Manitoba once.....millions of birds and we shot until our shoulders hurt.

I'd like to hunt geese again somewhere in Manitoba or Saskatchewan or Alberta where geese are a problem.

There are four hunters and we have our own decoys. We need a field to set them in and some hotel nearby....one of the hunters is in a wheelchair so some accommodation that is friendly to this condition helps a lot.

If any Canadian hunters know of a place we can travel to this fall to hunt waterfowl, please PM me or post here.

Obviously I am not Canadian, but I can tell you that I hunted Geese a few times near Ninette Manitoba. More Geese than we could shoot, not to far from the U. S. Border, and we had no trouble whatsoever in finding landowners that would allow us to hunt in their fields. In fact, we lined up more land to hunt than we could hunt. We stayed in a small motel in the town of Ninette. Really nice folks around that area.

does anyone know if we're still allowed to import 200 rounds of shot shells duty free?

I did discover that lead shot for waterfowl is no longer allowed....as I suspected....but it was last time I was there!

Hey Vapodog, one thing that might help with field access for a wheelchair hunter, most farmers will let you drive a DIESEL pickup into the fields even in a dry fall, when they don't like gas pickups because of sparking catalytic converters. We always let them know we aren't driving a gas truck! Cheers,Monashee

Thanks for advice...it's appreciated.

So far it appears as though the hunt will center in Saskatchewan....it appears as though we can take 200 rounds duty free....

Thanks for the reminder about Sunday hunting....I had forgotten that!

I'm struggling to find the firearm import forms....can someone post a webpage for this form...I'm told one can register his firearm online and this would be quite helpful.

Come help me thin the flocks, god damn! There's a shitload of them! There was one day where I shot so many birds all I had to do was point somewhat upwards and pull the trigger and birds would fall from the sky. My word did we ever eat like kings that winter. I would recommend talking to any farmers in the lower part of the province near the border - they hate the geese with a passion. Odds are very good that you'll get some decent wheelchair-accessible hunting locations simply due to the topography of the southern part of the province. Set them up with some coverage and a call and they should be able to blast away all day long. Morden/Winkler/Altona area is very accessible as far as routes in, proximity to each other, proximity to good hunting land, and availability of decent hotels.

Everything for Canadian gun laws and regulations can be found here: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/index-eng.htm SImply click on the "Visitors/Non-Residents" link on the left.

Not sure if you're at all interested in an outfitted hunt but these guys are awesome, http://www.thundercreekoutfitting.com/main.htm.
Carl is my Uncle though so I might be a little biased. They do have amazing goose hunting.

Thanks Matt but when one has the decoys it's hard to shell out #1,500 per person just to have someone else use theirs.

I do appreciate the link however.

Vapo,

Kill bunches of them! We're on the Central Flyway here in Texas and they are a pest. The last several years the state has allowed us to use electronic callers to help EVERY hunter take the maximum allowed. Hope you and your buddies have a great time.
Personally, I can't stand goose meat. But my dog loves it!
