Got busted real good tonight. After studying real hard yesterday on the doe greeting bleat call, you know rubber band call that sound like one of those (joke)rubber fart bags. So tonight I sit in my stand and do the calling. Waited 30 mins perhaps and then this squirrel was acting kind of strange and my attention was on it when I hear another squirrel perhaps 30yds off chattering annoyance. I don't know what took me but right then and there I decided that it was time to blow in that rubber band... 20 mins. had elasped as per instructions...perhaps! Three deer bugged off behind me from 30 yds or so. I swear, no where did I read or hear that you are to look first before you blow that bleat! Not the best greeting I guess. Why shall there not be patient confidence in the ultimate justice of the people? Is there any better or equal hope in the world? Abraham Lincoln

some you win some you lose. Something else, always start calling really quietly-I mean just a hair above silence. That way if something is near you won't spook it as easily. This applies I think to all calling whether it's moose, deer, or varmints. Once you've called quietly and waited an appropriate amount of time then you can slowly increase the volume. Some people think the louder the call the more it can be heard-don't worry animals have such great hearing that they will hear it no problem. Whether they come to it or not is another thing. Don't forget also that an animal has all the time in the world to come and check out the sound, so don't get impatient and call too much. I love calling of all sorts-it turns my crank, I only wish I could get this elk calling thing worked out-I think I need a year of practice. the chef

As in 'Look before you bleat'? Sorry, I couldn't resist it. The good thing is that you know your call works. Spelling and grammar count.
