The average man's love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty; and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies.

As a life long resident I have a few suggestions of where I would and wouldnt go. First ,avoid both the southern and especially south eastern zones. A bad combination of poor management and deer culling due to chronic wasting disease. Very few really good bucks come from the mountains in the west. I would choose an outfitter either from the Peace river area or from east central Alberta ie around Coronation. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip bwest. I will look at the map and go from there. I have not looked for an outfitters assoc. for outfitter contact information. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Peace River. The deer heard has been hit hard this last winter. I would suggest waiting a year or two to see what the situation is.

APOS website will help you out. As Alberta Coyote Caller mentioned, the mulie buck popluation has taken a hit a bit with a few harsh winters. I know the does havent been. One of my guys just did $6500 damage to his company trucjk when a doe committed suicide with the front end of the truck. Mad He is just as bad as you Alberta Coyote Caller animal

An outfitter to look at in Peace River is Birch Creek Outfitters. One of the hunters up just got a 184"+ Mulie the other day. Bigger bucks are there too, but its been a tough season for season big bucks let alone seeing smaller (160's) ones.

Here is a link to Birch Creek's website.

The outfitter we book for in Alberta does a great job of getting his clients on big mulies. I have been there as have clients of ours. Here is the link: http://www.premierhuntingadven...ule-deer-hunt-12-md/

If interested please call or email. The last I talked to him he thought he was booked full for 2010 but I can check on that for the most current info.

CRL,

try Big Knife Outfitters out of Donalda (North and East of Stettler); smaller outfit, really good guys, they take several 170 - 190+ mulies every year...

I've hunted with them the last 3 years, and have taken a 176", 170" and 163" (big 3x3, my fault Mad)

+ a 158" whitetail and a big 8-pt 150" buck missed on last day, just last week....

This year they took 2 mulies right around 190" that I know of + a few more at 180" or better...

Feel free to PM me with any questions,

Craig Nolan
