Sportsman's Warehouse is a must in Salem Oregon. Depending on what routes you are taking they have them in Spokane and the Tri Cities in Washington.

If coming down Interstate 5 in Oregon, I can also recommend stopping in Roseburg Oregon and looking up Cascade Ammunition and the Roseburg Gun Shop ( same place)
on Hwy 138 east side of Roseburg, exit 125 off of I 5.

I live in Grants Pass Oregon, just about 25 miles from White City and Corbon's. Never been there, but I can show you a few guns shops in the local area. Send me an email, if I can be of any assistance.

Cheers and good shooting

If you are not bringing anything with you, then the US customs is not the problem. the problems will be crossing back into Canada.

However, being Canadian, I am sure Canadian Customs look a lot different at a Canadian than they do an American crossing into Canada.

Having been employed by a Canadian company in the past and having to travel into Canada a lot, I crossed the border may times.

Funny, when going into Canada, and telling customs that I was an American employee of a Canadian company, they dropped the brick wall down a lot, and would not hassle me at all. They usually seemed surprised, and I more than once got a " good for Canada" statement with a big smile from the Canadian customs people.

Cheers and Good shooting

The problem with all of this is that it is illegal for a non American to buy a gun in the USA without an US export permit.

Once you get to Canada customs, it's no problem, just decare the rifle and you are on your way. They don't care...

However, US law enforcement has been known to stake out Kesselrings and other gun shops close to the border, and bust Canadians buying fun stuff!

The screwy US export permit has really put a damper on alot of cross border purchases by law abiding hunters and shooters!

Gatehouse: As a resident of western Washington (Seattle area) and a patron of Kesselrings, I have never experienced a law enforcement 'stake out' operation in their parking lot or anywhere near their business. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to specifics? P.S. For the purposes of discussion, due to my employer I am familiar with 'stake out' situations.

A number of Canadians shopping there have been pulled over by police (of some sort) and had thier purchases confiscated..

It's happened enough times that it is not a coincidence.
If you want more specific info, go to canadiangunnutz.com and ask about it there, as several of the members there have had some sort of experince with it, and I am relying on 2nd hand info..

Of 'some sort' because I don't know if they were Washington police, BATF, Customs...whatever.

You don't have to believe me, find out for yourself

Gatehouse: Take a deep breath. Relax. There are no 'black helicopters' around Kesselrings gun shop. If so, Americans would not shop there, much less Canadians........

I used to hunt/shoot with a guy who was born and lives in Canada, but, served as a volunteer in an American armoured division in VietNam and consequently holds dual Canadian-American citizenship. He went to the USA every week for veterans group meetings and frequently shopped at Kesselring's.

I asked him to pick me up some bullets and he refused to as he said that ONLY American citizens and residents were legally allowed to buy such items there and that the B.A.T.F. were "staking out" the place and had caught a number of Canadians making illegal purchases. Evidently, the penalties for such transgressions are very severe, thus, most guys I know here no longer shop there.

I bought my Dakota there and some other guns of that type, yet, when I phoned them and asked if they would export guns to Canadian dealers, they flatly refused although Cabela's told me they would. So, I wonder, I can't see Ron and Donny deliberately refusing legitimate business or being concerned by mere rumours although I hasten to add that I am not conversant withh American law in this respect.

The sad thing is that Kesselring's was/is a very fine gunstore and really good to deal with. The selection and friendly service as well as the hands-on expertise were superior to any other gunstore I have seen, so, shopping there was a pleasure.

When I lived in BC we used to go there frequently for a number of years for reloading supplies. My friends who still live there did until the last couple years when they have been told that they are welcome to browse there but forget about buying anything. Some guys still shop there but carry only US cash and don't purchase anything requiring ID. Don't know whats going on but it's too bad for us Canadian shoppers and I'm sure Kesselrings miss the sales cause I've been there when the parking lot had more Canadian plates on the cars than US.

Don't worry, I'm relaxed.

I'll jsut repeat myself one more time for you, since you dont' seem to able to grasp simple concepts...

Go to Canadiangunnutz.com

Put up a post about this topic. There are better informed people on this topic than I. That is, if you really want your questions answered...It seems to me that you just want to imply that I am a nutcase, but I really have no horse in this race..and I don't care if you believe me or not,as Kesselrings is way to far for me to do any regular shopping at, anyway..

Gatehouse: Sorry you are not able to visit Kesselrings on a regular basis. The simple concept I am making is that 'stake outs' are not happening in their parking lot. If they want to deny a sale inside to whomever, that is their right as a private business.

While driving north from Sac. you should stop in on Wild West guns in Redding. it is where 299 and I-5 cross. Go west about 3 or 4 blocks. I can't remember the exact street number but ask and about anyone will know as it is rather popular. Lots or rifles and other goodies to look at.
