I will be visiting Toronto for some corporate blah-blah-blah in early september and will have a weekend to fill, either 5-7 or 12-13. I am a keen bird hunter, fly fisherman and deer stalker in the UK and have been to Africa twice.

I was wondering if there is anything doing in the vicinity at that time of year? I'm open to your suggestions...thanks in advance...

PS I won't have my own rods (well maybe rods) but certainly not guns with me so would need to borrow.

Count experiences, not possessions.

Personally, I think mid-September to mid-October is the best four weeks of the year for weather and camping, etc. in our area.

I'm in London 2 hours southwest of Toronto and I can tell you, if you were one month later, you'd be in the middle of every season. Ducks, rabbits, and grouse start September 25, deer Archery Season is October 1, etc. But, there are good fishing adventures open in September:

* You might want a fishing charter on Lake Ontario, (www.salmonexpress.com)
* You might want to contact (www.grandrivertroutfitters.com), they are becoming quite popular in our area.

Here are the hunting regulations: www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/...on/MNR_E001275P.html

Non-residents get reamed on licences, things are the same all over...

Mid September I always do a fly-in fishing trip in Northern Ontario (15 hour drive) www.hawkair.com, but I found the magazine Ontario Out of Doors (http://www.ontariooutofdoors.com) has excellent classifieds with hunting and fishing guides much closer. However, with your limited time, and with places spread so far apart here, you will have to ask clear questions of travel times to where you are staying. Worst case scenario, you are 1-hour away from the Niagara wine country, lots of wines to sample... beer

Also, if you were looking for some other way to kill time, we have a tourism hotline 1-800-ONT-ARIO, or (1 -800-668-2746) or www.ontariotravel.net.

Good luck. If you do find some wild things to do, please post, and I will check it out too. Cheers!!
