How do I deal with handloads on the 6NIA form (temp permit to take guns into US for hunting)?

The manufacturer (who put the components together) would be.... me? ;-)

Are they serious about the address of the manufacturer? That'll take some searching...

What Mark suggested is definitely the easiest, no-explanation-required, solution to your dilemma.

But, another, more fun solution is to make up some phony, I mean custom labels for a ficticious, i mean local ammunition manufacturer. Like this...

Frans, I just got done doing my permit for my upcoming Brown Bear Hunt. I called the Help line, & they said to fill the form out with the Chambering, & in the Manufacture box put "handloaded".

I had a couple questions about the form, the help line was pretty helpful, no stammering, they knew the answers right away.

Frans, I just received my approved 6NIA. I applied June 15th & received it in the mail July 29th.

If you have access to a fax machine, they will fax it to you when approved, saving the 10 days it likely takes to get here.

So what do I fill in for the manufacturers name and address, when the gun is a Tikka, made by them when they were still Tikka, and not Sako?

I've typed in Sako's address for now, and Tikka Model 65 in the model section...?

Do I need to put the exact type of bullet that I've loaded into the "type" column? I'm still hoping to get some MRXs but may end up loading something else. Would "soft noses" do, and would the Barnes TSX qualify as such?

cmfci1, where did you find that phonenumber for their helpline?

Questions, questions... I got drawn for antelop see, so I better get this thing out the door pronto.

Your right about getting after it. It took a little while for me to get mine, I applied 4 Months before my Hunt was to start, and I was still nervous about getting it in time!

Thanks! I forgot to take my hunting license into the office today, so couldn't fax it, but it'll be gone tomorrow. I got the bullets, so I can be specific on that, and I'll give them a fax number of a buddy's office. Will they fax AND send the original?

They told me if I provided a fax number, that the process would be quicker. So I did... I never, ever got a Fax from them.

Well, I got the form today. Funny thing is it got approved Aug 24, and faxed on Aug 30th apparently, but it got lost on the receiving end (a friend's office). They sent it again today, and I got it!

Very funny thing: my friend hunted in Alaska a few weeks ago, flew to Anchorage via Seatlle. He got paged to come and open his gun case, but nobody ever asked him about form 6AIN! Which was good, because he had never heard of it, and obviously didn't have one.

Frans, I just returned tonight from a hunt on the Peninsula. Knowone asked to inspect my Gun, until I arrived back in Edmonton (but I did have to open it, to put the "Gun is unloaded" declaration in the case a few times). And they too never asked to see the 6NIA form, only my PAL, my Reg Card for the Rifle, and Passport.

Needless to say, I wouldnt chance NOT having the 6NIA form though.
