I've mentioned this before, but things have changed in our favour!!

The gunsmithing instructor at SAIT called me this fall to see if I was interestd in the gunsmithing class-"certainly not!!" I said. "Why on earth woud you have the class in the middle of hunting season?" "Um, well that's when we do it" he haid. Any way a few days later he called and asked if I would be interested in a January class, I don't know if it will be offered or not. If it is are there any AR locals that would like me to foreward their names to the fellow? You supply an action and learn to machine a barrel etc. I suppose you do the stock work at home. This is an excellent way to get the rifle of your dreams at a decent price as well as learning some stuff. He also "speaks blackpowder" if anyone is interested. It sure would be nice to get a few of us together to make some more guns for the liberals to worry about.

Calgary,
The course that Jeff runs is excellent! You can basically learn what is interesting to you and at your own pace. One thing that you need to take into account is that you will not be building rifles on your first day. In fact it will likely take you more then one class to build a complete rifle. Not a negative thing at all.
Have a look at this thread. It's a rifle that I built while taking this class.
