I tried reaching them on the phone without luck. Does anybody know if Howa has any retailers in Canada? If not, I guess I could get a shop in Washington to order it for me and drive it accross the border myself (im in Vancouver). It would be soooooooo much easier to buy it in the country than cross the border. Anybody have experience in buying a gun in the states and crossing with it? Thanks

Buy a Weatherby Vanguard. They are made by Howa and are identical. Mossberg and Smith and wesson used to market these same Howas under their name also. Very reasonable priced rifle, accurate and reliable. aka. bushrat

I want to get one of their barreled action to build a reasonable price "custom" rifle. From what I've read on the site you are right, most people don't have too many bad things to say about them.

Hmmmm, I know howa will sell a barrelled action. Whether there is a howa distributor in canada that will sell just a barrelled action is hard to say. If you import one from the states it will likely end up costing more $$ and causing more stress with paperwork, applications, permits and waiting periods to get it up here than just buying a complete rifle from a gunshop in Canada and taking the barrelled action and whatever else you need to use for your project. aka. bushrat

In case anybody is interested, I reached Howa in the states and they gave me the name of their dealer in Canada. The dealer gave me the name of the distributor in Western Canada, Caldwell Ind., who happen to be in North Vancouver. The guy at Caldwell told that I just have to get a retailer to make an order through them and they should be able to get me what I want. I'll have to try!
