Well I was fortunate enough to draw one of these tags and having never hunted for elk I could not believe just how huge the cow I got was. But handling it after gutting turned out to be a piece of cake as I had recently purchased an HD receiver mounted hoist, 3 pieces is 10' high. Worked great at getting the elk to tailgate height then slide the hind quarters in the box.
Shot the elk with my custom 7x57, 140gr TSX bullet at 345 yards, lucky I was zero'd for 300. FS

Good shooting! And I'll bet you're going to enjoy the eating too.

Between a rack at the taxidermist's shop, a couple of AR reports and this week's media stories on the herd,I've had Suffield on the mind for a while now. I'm getting close on bull points and am thinking of using them on Suffield, but have only driven through on the highway. Any thoughts on the legalities and logistics that you'd like to share? Got a picture of that hoist in action?

Take care,
Dean
