Policewoman slain in Quebec spells trouble.
As if we weren't already on shaky ground, a Laval policewoman was slain by a guy with a .338Magnum rifle. She had on body armor, but I doubt it would withstand a large caliber like that. It's not known yet, the bullet may have entered her body from below the vest. It doesn't matter, the woman was young, attractive, likeable and now very dead.
there'll likely be hell to pay for this one. The guy who shot her was psychotic, has a police record and not supposed to have a firearm, but he did. It doesn't matter who's at fault here, we'll all be held responsible.
Man, we sure as hell didn't need to have to deal with this one. Best wishes.

I was in Montreal Wed night - I should have asked you out for a beer. I was at the Queen Elizabeth hotel. You far from there?

Globe and Mail had that story about the female cop, as well as lots of stuff on the handgun ban.

I am looking at this one from South of the Border, but this will iindeed be trouble for shooters and hunters North of the Border if you all just sit there and let the antis drive the train.

I recommend you guys take the fight to the other side by accusing the federal firearms system of failure, thereby killing this police chick. Look at all the money that has been spent on the system, and etc. etc.

It is not, by the way, well known, but some really minor rifle cartridges can penetrate most police body armor.

It has beendone in every similar case in the past and will continue to be done. In situations as this emotion is used by the anti gun types and factual arguements unfortunately fall short to those not interested in firearm related recreation. But we must keep trying!

JFYI If it was standard soft body armor it well not stand up to all most all rounds with a MV of over about 1900fps.

I am sure that the anti's well try to run with this as far as they can.

They are very good at using the death of others to farther their clause.

This was a terrible event, and I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of the slain officer.

As gun owners, we shouldn't get defensive about this. Yes, the murder weapon was a hunting rifle. The reports I have heard have also stated the shooter was "known to the police" and had a firearms prohibition order issued against him for past violent behavior. A judge then made an exception to the ruling allowing him to have a rifle for hunting! This is bizarre! Millions of dutiful gun owners are doing their best to comply with the law, at monsterous expense to the taxpayer, and some judge dumps the entire effort in the toilet by giving a known violent person a gun anyway!

This is not a problem of gun ownership, or even a problem of gun-control - it is a problem of a judicial system that has failed. Any crime committed with a firearm reflects badly on gun ownership, but we need to fight back in this case by pointing out at every opportunity where the fault truly lies.

I heard about the upcoming election and that the socialists are promising to abolish firearms if they win.

If the Canadians want to keep their guns, they will vote Right. If they want to abolish guns, then they will vote Left.

Communistnazis, no matter which country in which they live, Canada, U.S., etc., ALWAYS want to abolsih the ownership and possession of firearms by the worker peasants.

How else can they establish their Great Brave New Marxist Socialist Nazi Police State Utopia??

Unfortunately, millions of Bliss Ninnies endorse the plans to enslave them.
