That cute little critter is a Pika,sometime called a Rock Pika.

Yep, they seenm to love to live in those rock slides. Gave me quite a starte at times, when I was all focused on the stalk, and suddenly he started cheeping at me.

They're smart too. During the summer, they cut and dry grass, then after it has dried, they take it down into the rocks for their winter food supply. Just like a rancher raising and putting up hay for his cattle.
