No reservation required for the campground at the range. Just no hookups there for power or sewer. If people want power etc. there are a couple of campgrounds close by. I'll be at the range saturday and get the names and numbers cus I'm sure you'll want a reservation for them.

I've got a timer and I'll have a couple of chronos there too if people want to do some load checks.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Still keen here! Still no rifle yet! Chris, you may have to pick up my gun if I can get our friends to have it ready, because we are running out of time... meaning that I will have a unsighted gun, with a stock that I suspect may need some trimming, but what the heck; as long as it goes BOOM!

I could probably prepare a pot of moose stew if there were interested parties. Sort of a Moose-on-a-Bun" type of meal?

I was thinking of showing up with mu .58 cal. muzzleloader (Grizzly and I could form a catagory) but then I remembered the Drayton Valley Gun show and I will probably be there when the doors open Sat. am.

Turns out both time and powder are the constraints... I loaded 30 rounds of .416 when I ran out of powder. Won't be able to shop this week.

Now I need that phonecall from Cranbrook that my gun is ready!!!!

The .375 is still missing :-(

May have to drive home Saturday night, but could still do moose stew. Is anyone bringing a propane stove to heat it up? I'm too disorganised to go digging for my camping stove.

Hi Frans
I think there will be lots of rifles to keep you busy shooting. It's having a good camp fire and and lots of people with the same interests that makes the shoots a lot of fun. Who knows what will get created out of this.
Take good care,
Dave

There is plenty to go around, that is for sure. Just my tiny contribution to the fun... better remember to defrost some...

Frans,

No word from M&H yet? Its looking like I might be able to travel to RMH on Friday afternoon, so if they have your rifle ready by Friday at noon I can definitely pick it up for you.

Cheers,
Canuck

Canuck,

Just called them, gun should be ready today, if of course there are no snags. All I need to do (assuming all is well) is get money to them in time... since they don't do credit cards, that likely means couriering a cheque or something like that.

So, is there anything I need to bring besides a box of ammo? Targets, or do we buy at the range, or anything else really. Best let me know when I still have some time to get my act and my stuff together...

Hey Mbogo;
How many and do they have to have lids? Also Frans, if you're going to do the stew thing, maybe we ought to bring some plastic bowls and spoons.
Anyone coming through Sundre might want to stop and see the Chester Mjolsness World of wildlife Museum, one block west and south of the 4 way stop. 150+ mounted trophies from all over the world. Been open since Nov. and I haven't had time to see it yet. boohoo but then, I'll be working just down the street, so maybe there's hope.

Yes lids would be good. As long as we can fill them up with water on site or from a close by creek it would be good.

Well it looks like I should be able to make it.

I am in the process of selling the Dairy portion of our farm and the majority of the cows will be leaving the farm on the 26th. And the Brother has agreed to pick up the slack while I am gone to Rocky. Big Grin

So we(Wife and I) should get there around mid day on Sat.

Does anybody need anything brought down from Edmonton? ie (reloading supplies from P&D.) Send me a pm if I can help.

It will be nice to be able to put a face to the person after getting to know everybody online for so many years.

Do we need a BBQ? I can thow one in the back of the truck.

Frans, I think I have some plates left from catering. They aren't big but should work. I'll bring some plastic cutlery etc. And some bisquits to go with the stew. Do you have a camp stove to warm it up? If not let me know, I also have an appropriatly large pan.

I'm only going to be there Saturday, so I'll leave here early-ish, if you are too we should stop at Grizz's for coffee and to get the old bear up and at em. I aint got no big boomer, but it'll be great fun watching.

Graylake,

Glad to hear you are coming!

I am pretty sure Canuck32 said he'd have a BBQ.

Thanks for the offer on the supplies, but I think I am OK for a bit (unless you have a line on some primers...they are in very short supply!).

Cheers,
Canuck

ps: PM sent.

Dave E,

Axle hasn't checked in here lately but I am 99% sure he will be there. Cyril from Chetwynd will be driving down too...I have an impala mount for him.

I have just shy of 40 rounds for my 470 Mbogo and another 40 for the 416 Taylor, and 30 or so of 45/70. Should be plenty, eh?

You and Chris drive safe eh, and we'll see you there.

Cheers,
Canuck

Great!!

So, I'm defrosting some 15-20 pounds of moose meat, that I will turn into stew with a limited amount of veggie stuff, so it remains a man's stew ;-) I'll bring a few bags of buns. And a few six-packs.

So Chef, you are good for the plates and scopping implements?

Grizz, don't forget the stove, or fight with chef who will bring it. I'll be bringing a thin-walled pot (the only one I have that is big enough) that is not really suited for a blazing campfire. Chef, if you feel that your pot is better, do bring it.

30 rounds of Rigby, to be burned in the newly stocked and fiddled-with CZ. I'll trade some for a few .470 Mbogo's and .500's though! ;-)

Hope somebody else has got the targets squared.

Early morning laminate-purchase run (of the floor kind) on Saturday morning... should be able to show up around noon, God willing and the creek don't rise.

Frans (where the heck is my sleeping bag!?)

Hey .366, I am very low on CCI 200s and 250s, and Fed 215s, but I can make do for a while (have a few hundred WLRM and Rem LRs I can sub if necessary). Shipping primers is a b*tch. If I get desperate I'll definitely look you up! Big Grin

Hi guys , I'll be there but not until late Friday night. damn work schedule changed , I've got 50 or so rounds of .375 loaded and a box of .458 . If anyone is able to pick me up a couple of boxes of .458 I'd be very grateful since the store won't be open when I go through. If not I'll make do. I'll see what I can find for pails, anything else we need?

Looking forward to meeting you all

Hey ax,

I'll give Mtn Man a quick check for another box of 458 ammo today.

Check with any bulk fuel stations for the buckets. I used to get mine at Corrigan's Esso in Sparwood. The lids are a must.

Cheers,
Chris

I still can't believe ax would miss any opportunity to shoot a 470 Mbogo, or especially the 500 Asquare....employment notwithstanding!! Frowner

Frans, I have seen that happen with a pressure cooker before...not a pretty sight! Bet it took as long to clean up as it did to cook!

Looking forward to seeing you guys soon. Should be pulling out of my driveway in a few hours.
