Swan Hills, Alberta. May 21-2016. I would say the forest fire risk is NIL... I went up there looking for a big black bear. It was -3C, and 90% humidity, so I was constantly having to stop and scrape ice off my 'sun-glasses'... After a while, I ditched the glasses. There was a layer of ice on everything. Fresh grizzly tracks, with my size 13 boot for perspective. More fresh grizzly tracks... Pretty sure the same bear made these tracks. Fresh black bear tracks; made by maybe a 5' bear. Our old moose & bear hunting campsite. Loggers clearcut right around it, but left the old tent frame standing. Pics were shot with a Blackberry 'Leap', cell phone. | ||

Reminds me of my Grizzly hunt there a few years ago. Altitude gives the Swan Hills a climate of their own. You can see the famous gumbo as well. Grizz Indeed, no human being has yet lived under conditions which, considering the prevailing climates of the past, can be regarded as normal.
