Can you hunt dall sheep and mountain goats on the one hunt, and where would be the best place to go? Do the goats have a thicker coat in winter compared to the fall? At the moment it's just for curiosity, but I would like for this to be my next trip, maybe in the fall of 2011. Thank in advance for any info guys.

I am sure they do that combo in Alaska. In Canada, your best bet is probably the Mackenzie Mts in Northwest Territories. I know, for example, Nahanni Butte Outfitters and South Nahanni Outfitters both offer that combo. I am not sure if any other outfitters have enough goats to offer it.

Dall sheep and goats live in differant habitats. Goats prefer the warmer wet mountains of southeast and south central AK and the sheep prefer dry but cold mountains of interior AK. Yes their range does overlap in some areas for example the Kenai mountains and chugach mountains. Trying to organize a combo hunt in one of these areas would be a bit of a monumental task due to drawing permits, hunting seasons conflicting and finding a good outfitter who would be availble to do it. One outfitter who I think might be able to pull it off would be a guy named Paul klaus. I know his area has good numbers of both. I'm not sure if I spelled his name correctly but his lodge is called Ultima Thule lodge. I would suggest booking two back to back hunts in order to overcome the logistical problems. You can fly into Anchorage from Europe on Condor and go on a sheep hunt and then do a goat hunt before returning on the Condor flight. Back in the late 70's I killed a sheep and a goat on the same mountain one year when I was a teenager but they were a month or so apart. I don't think I would hae had the energy to take both animals on one hunt not even at that age. DRSS NRA life AK Master Guide 124

It is possible in NWT, on the same hunt. South Nahanni Outfitters, Werner and Sunny.

I hunted both with Ceaser lake outfitters in the Yukon. They have more good goat mountains than good sheep range, but as it turned out I was successful with the Dall sheep but the rugged mountains where the goats live beat me physically.
