Hi, I'm from the UK and am interested in buying a small wilderness property for getaways and hunting in the next year or two. You guys got any ideas? I have spent some time in Alberta and BC and love the west but may consider Nova Scotia or Newfoundland due to the closer proximity.
Matt

I do not hunt in order to kill, but kill in order that I have hunted.

Property is cheaper on the East coast than in Alberta.

Then there's the residency thing, non-residents can get fishing liscences but to hunt even if you have property here you'll need a hunter-host to get a liscence. You could always buy out an outfitter and use his allocations for your personal hunting. In that case you still need a local "manager" to act as the owner and say he owns the concession. It's lying and deception but happens a lot more than people think.

Buying out a concession is a lot of money depending on the game allocations.

MattMck,

If you are interested in hunting upland birds and waterfowl, you can do that on your own in some places. A search might dig out some more specific info. I seem to recall a similar thread a year or so ago that generated some good info.

Good luck,
Dean

You could check out
www.justaboutland.com

However whereever you might buy a place check the regulations. Just owning land may not give you the legal right to hunt.
