| I think they all require a guide if your a nonresident. might be a ezception if you a full time stufdent like some states do.
But unsure of that. |

| NO DIY for you in CA!
You are consideres a nonresident alien in Canada, so, you need a guide to hunt big game.

| Interesting, I know that there are certain exceptions for caribou in Quebec and it seemed like there were similar ones for moose? Depending on the zone that I was interested in hunting. David, do you happen to have a good reasonably priced outfitter that you could recommend? |

there is no exceptions for caribous you purchased the tags from an outfitter and can have no guide but good luck ... without a guide wont be the easy way. in Quebec you can buy OTC moose tag but you need to know where to go and this is party huting for moose from 2 to 4 people for a moose. so you need to know the are where you want to hunt, have friends and logistics otherwise this is easy lol .. |

| You might convince an outfitter to do a drop camp somewhere, you'll still have to buy a tag from him but would be able to hunt on your own? |

| justanotherhunter, I don't have any personal experience with an outfit in Ontario, but a few years ago I did a bit of research on Ontario, as I was looking for a DIY hunt, also. In the 50's, 60's, and 70's, my father did a lot of moose hunting in the Red Lake/Ear Falls area, and was very successful. I ended up going to Alaska in 2010 instead, and fell in love with it. My son and I are planning on returning in 2014. I would still like to do a hunt in Ontario, though, just to retrace some of the steps my father took. Knute |
