I am seeking anyone with personal experience with Bear Valley Outfitters near Swan Lake, Manitoba. I went once 10 years ago, but have heard that lately there have been mixed reviews, regarding their whitetail hunts.
Please let me know of your experiences with them, good or bad. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I am in Gainesville, FL...grew up in Winnipeg...hunted western Manitoba alot. Years ago, I used to hunt whitetails near Reston, Manitoba ....saw many many deer....too many to count...just walked into fields and the deer ran out from brush clumps in all directions. Certainly, the deer populations now are similar in that region. Can you not simply locate an "outfitter" or a "accomodating pal" and make less costly arrangements than otherwise? I go back to Winnipeg twice a year, just got back to FL last week. Saw many deer as usual in southern Manitoba. The tracks in the snow at the edge of the city were numerous. It just irks me that people pay absurd sums to hunt deer in Canada, or antelope in Wyoming, while either can be an inexpensive piece of cake.

I have the same thoughts regarding overpriced hunts through outfitters. My problem is that I have some health issues that require some assistance. I had broken both my hips and 4 lower ribs in a vehicle accident Dec 2004. Not my fault, waiting for possible settlement in a court case to get handled this summer. It caused me to lose one years income which is nothing compared to what I face for the rest of my life.
Thanks for the suggestion though. I am looking at that avenue in some Mid-western US states for that exact scenario.

I don't have a direct link but give David Doan and his Pioneer Outfitters a look see. David's operation is in the Riding Mountain area of Manitoba. He also has very reasonable bear hunts but you've gotta book those well in advance..

David sometimes posts here and maybe will see this.

I live in Jacksonville, FL, not to far from you & love hunting Canada. I just got back form a Black Bear hunt in Manitoba last October. I'll send you a IM, we should talk if you go up there that often & are ever in need of some company.

I have lived in Gainesville since '99, and have not hunted in FL, except for an absurd pig hunt that was like shooting in a pen.....not something I would repeat. I would love to link up with fellows nearby for hunting...deer...pig....anything edible.

Thanks. David Doan has responded, and sounds great. I still haven't heard any reports from you guys on Bear Valley Outfitters. He puts too many people through there for no one to give me a report?
