I am looking for a good black bear hunt, probably Canada. Have never been black bear hunting before, I was going to bow hunt, but changed my mind I am looking for a fall black bear hunt, would like to take a nice bear, doesn't have to be 500# but would like a nice bear.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I went to Africa hunting cape buff with the help of AR forums.
thanks

Try Birch Creek Outfitters out of Peace River Alberta. They have a good population and color phase. Small outfitter but really good.

Lots of bear hunting in Can. Perhaps a combined acadian (Land of Evangeline) touristism and maritime provinces bear hunt in New Brunswick or Nova Scotia if you are so inclined?

Would rather stalk, will be hunting with a rifle. Have no real aversion to hunting over bait, do not want to hunt with dogs

Most bear hunting from Saskatchewan east to the Maritimes is done over bait.

BC and AB are usually spot and stalk hunting.

Spot and stalk hunts are generally a little more expensive.

I have hunted with Roy Patterson in B.C. for over 20 years. Spot and stalk. Going back again in May. Feel free to e-mail your # and I will answer any questions you might have.

I second the notion for Roy Patterson, I don't know if he is guiding anymore as he was sick but his area is second to none for lots of large black bears.

Roy has his health back, but can't have a schnopps any more. You are right about the bears in that part of B.C.
I have taken 17 bears and the biggest bodied bears I have seen or taken were with Roy.

Good to hear about Roy I haven't talked to him for awhile but I'm friends with some of his close reletives. I hunt in his area all the time and let me tell you there are a lot of bears. I usually see 5-10 bears a day during the spring if you are hitting the bush hard. I know a fellow that got a 7.5 foot blackie last year.
