O.K. guys, let me get this straight. I have to re-register on their site now? It won't let me on with my user name and pass word. Thats it, I'm going on troll mode!

That site is a major waste of time. I finally get back on, I re-register, I make post #1 after checking my e-mail to varify, crash!! Now I can't get back on their site and I don't even know if post #1 even made it through. Why are they having so many problems and why can't they get it figured out? Other boards with the same software seem to be doing fine.

to be fair, CGN is a non profit site. It has no advertisers, and no source of income, although they recently had a donation/raffle fundraiser. AR is also non profit, but Saeed has alot deeper pockets than Greentips, the CGN owner. Most other sites are funded by advertising and/or sales like Huntamerica (gag) Huntinfo (double gag) or 24hour... CGN is still a top notch CANADIAN site, IMHO.

I think CGN is a was, unless they figure it out. It crashed while I was on it for the first time in a month.

It was back up for a bit on the 20th, then I couldn't get on again, now it seems to be working OK. Who knows? I like the CDN content so i'll still go there. - Dan

I have not bothered with it for about a month as I prefer this site and 24Hhour, but, I certainly wish them every possible success. I know absolutely zilch about computers and not much about anything else, but, a Canadian hunting and gun site would be nice to have. I have no interest in "black guns" and I find that CGN tends to attract a younger, more para-military crowd, but, each to his/her own. I find it ironic that when I was young, a guy could buy "battle rifles" and "assault rifles" over the counter at Lever Arms as easily as he could buy a Cooey .410; none of us wanted them and all of us had guns in our homes and cars. Canada did not have shootings then and we had high employment and the second highest lifestyle in the world. Now, we have strict guncontrol and other state-mandated changes in our traditional ways and Vancouver and Toronto have shootings every week; I wonder why this is?

this was one of the first sites I ever joined, years back now. Long enough ago, that my membership info got lost at some point during various upgrades to the software. This has always been a great site for worldwide info, but when it came to the things I was interested in, in Canada, it was somewhat lacking. Not being a hunter is probably the biggest reason for this. But that said, reading some of the comments above make me laugh. When compared to other forums on the net, and I belong to just about everyone of them, CGN has by far the single largest concentration of been there, done that, real world experts, going. Only this site and ARFCOM might have more. But on CGN those people are willing to talk to you, help you, and even invite you out so they can help you in person. That's something rarely seen anywhere. Yeah we have some opinionated people on the site, me being one, but the only real complaining I've heard from current or ex-members are when they get lambasted for making unsubstantiated uninformed remarks, or racist remarks. and quite honestly with the presence of a couple of people, who are posting here, no longer being on CGN, things have calmed down greatly. I also note that some of the biggest detractors of the site are also the ones who caused the most problems, what a coincidence eh? as for the server issues, yeah it sucks, and I am not happy with how it's being handled, but it's out of my hands to do anything about it.

Slavex Saeed has been good to us too. This forum, like Gunnutz is free. Those of us who post regular were not lost in the upgrades, although a few lost post numbers. All forums have their problems, and their good sides. You just have to overlook the problems. Mostly, they are either Censored, or Trolled, or frequented by a few arguementative individuals. It's hard to find a middle ground. I just learn to ignore certain people, and tolerate others. (no I don't use the "ignore" feature, although "Mortie" is getting close ) For example, most of the guys in this thread are western shooters/hunters. A lot of the stuff they use, and the ways they use it are way different, and total BS to an eastern hunter like myself. I don't argue. Why? I've been west. Their conditions are far different, and for them, what they say and do makes sense. If these arguers, and know it alls would take a breath, and think about where the other guy is comming from, they'd find middle ground a lot faster. For the most part, we shooters are a pretty agreeable bunch.

Quote: I think most of the CGN regulars on this site know why your not around Gunnutz anymore, and Slavex was being polite with his response. It won't take these guys long to figure it out either, keep up the good work!

Johny- I wasn't complaining about losing my membership or what this site contains. Far from it, it's my own fault for not coming here often enough to notice when the upgrades were done, and re-registering right away. I am sure if I was into hunting more, this forum would be a huge place for me to learn more. But since I get enough killing of animals on a daily basis at work, I don't really feel the need to go out too often and do it in my spare time. Though the gopher shoot this year will be a huge exception to that! I of course would love the chance to hunt big game in Africa, but I know that the chances of that happening are between slim and none. Since I frequent so many boards that contain info I do desire, it makes it hard to cruise other forums just for the fun of it. The cool thing about this board is the truly diverse group of people it has on it, true multiculturalism at it's best.

KTK---Thanks, but I am not a person who wants to "kick ass" although I do enjoy a serious debate with anyone who wants to debate honestly. If, there are ...slack jawed young yokels...there or anywhere else, it is not my place or my inclination to do anything about it. I have been on this site since I first found it at the same time I found CGN, 24hr, Huntamerica and so forth and it is my favourite. The thing about this is that if I want to be outrageous just for fun, I can go over to "Politics" and say anything, someone from Europe can cal me a _____ _____ ____ and I can reply in kind; it is all in fun and I am sure that they are laughing as hard as I am. Actually, I met Boilerroom over there and we have exchanged P.M.s helping each other out with B.C. hunting info. I am glad you're here and I hope to see more Canucks join, this is NOT a negative comment on CGN which is a great place for some, actually, for a lot of shooters.I like the mix here as well as I am interested in meeting people in different places, from Norway to India, like Rob (Slavex) I would like to hunt in foreign fields, although I doubt that I will ever be able to afford it. In a way, I envy you for having traveled widely, I was busy exploring the B.C. bush when most people my age were traveling all over the globe; this was in a different world sometime back just after the Neolithic Era, in the '60s.... I would love to go to Africa, northern India and that desert area of western China to explore and also hunt Elk in Mongolia.....all a guy needs is a small lottery.... Jonny---levers are cool, very cool, especially '86s!

Agreed, on the '86s, and the lottery. Damned government is robbing us blind. I figure, in income tax alone, they've pulled three and a half years wages out of my pockets over the last ten years. Worse than that, they outright stole a big part of that through crooked dealings with their friends, and they squanderd the rest.

Quote: When You add up your: Income Tax- 30% GST -7% PST(maybe) -8% You get about 45% of your money dissappearing whenever you buy something. It get's worse, because you pay the GST and PST in after tax dollars. Then youhave the hidden tax like on gas and booze.... I bet over 50% of our earnings gets made into a tax one way or the other. Everyone needs a very good accountant. An accountant like Tony Sopranos!!
