I was recently able to book a hunt in northern BC during the first two weeks of August. What should I expect regarding temperatures and precipitation?

Where abouts in northern B.C. are you hunting.
I live in Prince George which is in the centre
of B.C.. August here can be the nicest month of the year. Good luck on you'r hunt.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I have woken up to snow in Pink Mountain on an Aug. 17 and seen it rain for a week straight until flood conditions from opening day in Sikanee Chief.

I am headed up near the Yukon border, mid-portion of the province. I just was not sure how much rain is typical for early August.

go here http://www.theweathernetwork.ca/weather/cities/can/Pages/CAYT0017.htm

this site will also give historic data.

I've done a lot of work around the Tournigain, Rancheria and Tootsee Rivers, and August is usually fairly good, as in 60/40 good/bad weather.

Like others have mentioned, it is generally good, but like most places in Canada, it can get cold, snowy and generably miserable as well. Make sure you have a good Gore-type hooded shell with an insulating fleece underneath, with good gloves and boots.

It is usually good weather, but expect some rain ( and a lesser chance of snow)

As mentioned above, some years there is lots of rain in August,

What outfitter are you booked with if you do not mind me asking?

If, I were to go on a guided Stone's Sheep hunt in northern B.C., that is the outfitter/area that I would choose. If, you can afford to hunt Sheep here, you may as well go first class and see probably the most remote area we have left.

Best of B.C. luck on your hunt and get in SHAPE, it should be an experience to treasure for the rest of your life.

Backpack hunting is the best excuse to get into shape. I set up a mini-gym in my house to get into shape before my Dall hunt. It was the best shape I have ever been in. Made the trip enjoyable.

Like the NWT, I am sure weather can change drastically. I was most interested in how much rain occurs this time of year.
