I just came back from an Alberta hunting trip and happened to find this winter kill stashed in the antler shed so I took a few pictures. My friend didn't figure it was too remarkable but I'd disagree. The mass on this is remarkable and then grasping the bases my fingers didn't touch.

That was a great buck. I'm sure he left his genes in a few deer in the area. What area would that be, by the way? (what part of Alberta were you hunting in?)

How was your hunt? Did you manage to tag a good buck? And more important did you enjoy yourself on the hunt?

Have a good one1

I had a great hunt, but it was a vacation more than anything. I didn't shoot anything of record status but did get a nice Muley with the bow. I head up to the Athabasca - Calling Lake area a few times a year it seems as of late. I always have a good time up there but this time it was definately short sleeve weather and there were some big mosquitos in the muskeg areas.

These are certainly the largest antlers I've even held in my hands and had they been less/un nibbled I'm pretty certain they'd be well over 200".

I have held that set of antlers as well. The smallest "mass measurment" is 8" and where you see the webbing, on what would be the second "mass measurement", is approx. 16". I put a set of horns from a 150 class deer inside those antlers you are holding and they look very, very small!

That set of antlers is over 170" as is, I could only imagine what it would gross, if it were intact. If it were intact and classified as typical, it would push the top of scoring Whitetails...it is HUGH! beyond belief.....

I've dug around up in the loft a few time but this is the first I've come across these particular antlers, there's just too much junk up there to see it all in a dozen trips or so.

As you point out, the picture doesn't do them justice.
