I'm looking for a Father/Son coastal British Columbia spring black bear hunt. My son is a freshman in high school, so we would have to go in June during his summer break. He has been asking me to go on a coastal black bear hunt for years.

Any recommendations on outfitters would be appreciated.

My husband had an unsuccessful Feb. 2014 Mountain Goat hunt and could not have been happier with the effort and service of Bolen Lewis, Terrace B.C.

Agree 100% on Bolen & Lewis. Did the lodge based black bear hunt in 2010 with them and had a great time.
They do have an ocean hunt, but it is usually booked out 2-3 years in advance. I had a client this spring looking for an ocean hunt, so I called Mike. If i remember right, off the top of my head, the only openings he had were in 1 in 2016 and the rest were 2017 and beyond.
The lodge based hunt is actually not that far from the ocean....15 miles or so. Bears a little smaller as a general rule, but some big bruisers are taken there as well.
Had a good talk with Mike at SCI this year and found out they just acquired a new area in central BC and will be running some hunts there as well.

We are looking at hunts with Dave Fyfe (North Island Guide Outfitters) and Bob Milligan (Coastal Mountain Outfitters).

If anyone has experience or knowledge of these outfits, any feedback would be appreciated.
