Who in Canada blues a stainless steel barrel, or applies a finish that looks like blueing.

I am planing to rebarrel a Ruger #1 26" 25-06 with a SS match grade barrel. I like the finish to look something like the action. Not like a flat paint job. Or else I go with a regular chrome moly barrel. The rifle is not going into the rain forest or into the trenches.

Are you talking about the #2413 New Gun Kote Gun Metal Blue.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't know anyone who does this to their own rifle but I know that Remington offers their M700 Alaskan Wilderness Rifle(AWR) with stainless finished with a black matt.

Why do you ask?

I know a gentleman is Winnipeg who does. There is also someone in Northern BC who does it as well. Unfortunately the weekend has to get here before I can post their numbers.

I'm pretty sure the AWR has a teflon finish.

This is the only gun finish for stainless steel that really looks like shiney bluing; that I know of.

Good luck.

Corlanes does a very nice job, with their teflon coating. A friend of mine in Dawson Creek had a little Cooey .22 done by them, which is on semi-permanent loan by me, and it looks impeccable. Unfortunately, the gun is still with the gun smith who is going to install some mounts, or I could have sent a picture. I hope he frequents this site, I have something to say to him:

FINISH THE WORK ON THE COOEY!!!!

Those damn gophers are going to be back in hibernation, before I see that gun again.
