DEPENDS on where the 'boo are as to whether 20 gallons are enough. What "mile marker..er kilometer marker are you going to be at??? IF you are going to be at the far west end of the road and the 'boo are at the far East end... what kind of mileage do you get? ALSO how close will you be to the refuel point? For the last 2 years we have been at the 512, which puts us in no man land and about 120K from the nearest gas. If you have lots of running to do 20 gallons won't be much, but again it depends on how your vehicle does. I have always carried more then that but I don't want to limit my exploration possibilities. I have always packed 6 6 gallon cans. Sometimes the way "home" is 100K one direction and the gas is 100 MILES in aonther direction. also are you running with another vehicle that is also carrying gas... if not, hedge your bets and throw on another couple of cans. If it works out and you don't need it, you can drain them into your tank and just carry them empty. ...otherwise...I would imagine if you are sitting by the road side trying to buy gas... I would imagine it could get VERY expensive.... My truck a 2001 Chev 2500HD witht the 8100Vortec and the Allison tranny is NOT the gas friendliest vehicle out there, BUT it will haul and go anywhere I want it to go. IF you are NOT in in a 4wd vehicle, think a set of chains in reserve because there are some side trails that get "surprising" before you could get turned around. Not trying to geek you up or scare you but it is wild country. We run in multiples just for safety sake in case someone breaks down or gets into trouble. There is a fair enough amount of traffic that even if just your rig, you will find folks willing to hep out. have fun and give a report back. | ||
