The following is condensed from an email I received from one of Jerome's friends. Jerome also was a friend of mine and will be missed by all who knew him well. Bill Quimby Jerome Knap, founder of Canada North Outfitters, and the man who opened polar bear hunting and many other kinds of big game hunting in arctic Canada died of cancer this week. He was the most successful booking agent in Canada until he sold CNO and retired a few years ago. At one time he was by far the most successful outdoor writer in Canada and had best selling books published in book clubs. He was also the editor of the Hamilton Spectator and was a field editor for several magazines. He is survived by his wife Halina.

Bill, I believe he wrote an article on hunting with percussion doubles many years ago, possibly in the first Lyman muzzleloading handbook. Sorry to hear of his passing. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I had the good fortune of meeting Mr.Knap and his wife at one of the DSC shows a few years back after I had done my Musk Ox and Caribou hunt with Canada North in 2000. Really nice folks. Condolences to his family and friends. Even the rocks don't last forever.
