I am booked for the 18th.Those satellite migration maps are showing them to far north for this time of year. The weather has been mild for the past two months.I got my rifles ready and just can't wait.

I'm also booked for the 18th. In the beginning of October they were nearly down to the road. As of last week they were all the way back up to Ungava Bay. Today the map web site has a note that there's no map for Oct 29th to the 5th, or from Nov 5th to the 12th? Whats up with that?

I heard there was a big snowstorm there yesterday. That could be why there is no satellite report but I am just guessing.I am staying at Nouchimi and was told by them that they will call me if there are no caribou a week before my arrival date.

Thanks for the link shootaway.
Do any other provinces follow the Caribou migrations like Quebec or are their migrations much smaller and no one bothers?

The satellite map is posted today and the herd is making tracks to the south. They are farthur east than usual but may still hit the road in 22A

This is the rifle I will be using and the 200yd group I shot with it today. It is a factory Winchester in 300WM. The load was 73 grains of IMR 4831,Win cases, fed 215 primers, non coated 180 grain TSX bullets. The scope is a Schmidt and Bender with very thick cross-hairs.ab The group was shot right after the rifle was cleaned with JB on a brush, with no fouling shot. The rifle was then cleaned again in the same manner and the bore was left un oiled to repeat the above performance.

My father made this wooden frame that we put in the bed of the truck to tie down our gear and hold everything in place.a

I'am back! We saw plenty of caribou. It gave me a good feeling to be amongst a very large concentration of caribou once again. The day we hunted was like no other. The sun was out all day and the temperature was on special order. I settled for two average bulls.I'll post some pics soon and try to get some video of the hunting scene posted also.

I just got back this evening. Five of us went and we all filled our tags. The main migration came down to the Quebec Hydro road just east of LaForge #2, about 175 miles south and east of our camp, so there was some additional driving time this year. However, the herd was quite concentrated and the migration was truely a sight to behold. I also took two young "average" bulls. All of the really large older bulls I saw were either bald, or carrying only a half rack. In the two days we hunted the migration I believe I got to see somewhere between 5,000 and 8,000 caribou pass withing 75 yards of me. Kiskimaastakin once again provided excellant service, and happily adjusted their dinning hall hours to accomodate the drive time necessary to hunt the main herd. The herd was making good time to the southwest and I think the migration probably encompasses LaForge #1 by now.

BD,it was just like you said.I got some video of past hunts on Hi8 cassetes and just got a dvd installed on my computer.I am trying to find out how I can transfer the video from one format to another and then I will post here.I got some video of a really big bull, the biggest I've seen while caribou hunting.BTW,my IMR 4831,180gr TSX load dropped both bou right in their tracks with the CRACK of the shot!

After spendind nearly a week trying to get a couple of videos from my digital cam to a hosting sight and changing my computer for a more powerfull one,I only managed to get the video without sound and color on my computer files. The host sights won't download them for some reason. This may be because my cam works with the S-video cable and not the USB cable.
