I will be heading to Terrace B.C. in two weeks for a bear hunt. I plan on using my Blaser and am wondering if there are any problems bringing an extra barrel and ammo in a different caliber. Would this require an extra nonresident firearms permit?

No..it's not an issue.

The barrel is a part, not a firearm.

Teh customs guy probably won't understand, so don't give him any more information than necessary so you don't confuse him...

Just tell him it's a 'spare' barrel. No need to go into specifics about chambering unless he asks.

The CFC considers the action as the gun, not the barrel. As such they are only concerned with how many actions you are bringing in.
